Psychotherapy centered on you
Therapy in Tigard, in Portland, and by video anywhere in Oregon.
We are a group practice. We work with the things that are hardest to say out loud and hardest to find real help for: gambling and other process addictions, life after a brain injury or a stroke, a marriage after betrayal, and the trauma somebody has been carrying for twenty years.
The first conversation is free and it lasts 55 minutes.

Your challenges: centering on you
We start by understanding what you are actually managing. We have particular expertise in:
Gambling, gaming, pornography, shopping. Named separately, because grouping them is a way of not saying them.
The practice is led by a clinician who holds the CGAC II credential, which very few clinicians in Oregon carry. If you have already tried to stop and could not, that is the thing worth bringing.
Addiction creates a callus around our vulnerable spots. Whether the substance is alcohol or something else, addiction affects thinking, emotions, relationships and functioning. We work with it as psychotherapy, alongside the rest of a life rather than instead of it.
These challenges create stuck points. Becoming unstuck is a process that is unique for each of us.
Including the trauma somebody has been carrying for twenty years, and the kind that arrived in a hospital.
Anger and disconnection, communication breakdowns, isolation. We have particular focus on the impacts of addiction, trauma and infidelity on relationships, and we work with couples living with the effects of brain injury and stroke.
We support families around the impact of addiction, families with young adult children struggling with the transition into adult life, and families managing brain injury, stroke and other health crises.
TBI, stroke, aneurysm, Alzheimer’s, cancer. Medical treatment focuses on the physical and functional impacts. We support the healing and adaptation of the emotional and relational ones, for the person and for the family around them.
Physicians, attorneys and executives, where a record is its own problem.
How we work
Nobody is told what to do. Not in the first session, not ever. The first hour goes into understanding what you are actually managing, which is slower at the start and is the reason any of it holds.
Nothing is hidden. Our fees are published. So are the insurers we bill, our hours, and the names of the people you would be seeing.
Nine to seven Monday to Thursday, nine to six Friday to Sunday, so appointments do not have to come out of your working day.
