Pornography and Compulsive Sexual Behavior
I don’t know why I keep doing it
You have stopped before. Sometimes for weeks.
You have deleted things, blocked things, moved the laptop, made a rule, meant it. And then you are back, usually at a predictable hour, usually feeling worse than the time before.
The gap between what you intend and what you do is not a character problem. It is the problem. It is also the thing that responds to treatment.
The first conversation is free and it lasts 55 minutes.
Open seven days a week.
What we work with
We name things directly here. It saves time.
- Compulsive pornography use. Escalating time, escalating content, using at work, using instead of sleeping.
- Use that has stopped being about wanting it. Which is the point most people call at.
- Cam sites, subscription accounts, paid chat. Including the money, which is often the part that surfaces first.
- Anonymous encounters and hookup apps used compulsively rather than by choice.
- Chronic infidelity that does not look like an affair and looks more like a pattern.
- Behavior that has started to carry real risk. To a relationship, a job, a license, a family, a criminal record.
- Secrecy as a full-time job. The accounts, the deleting, the second device, the story you keep straight.
We do not treat sexual orientation, and we do not treat being a person who watches pornography. Neither is a disorder. What we treat is behavior that has stopped being under your control and is costing you things you want to keep.

What this is going to be like
You will not be judged. Whatever it is, it is not the worst thing anyone has said in that room this year.
You will not be shamed. Shame is not a treatment. It is a large part of the engine, and every relapse it causes proves that.
You will not be told it is about your childhood in the first session, or the fifth, unless it turns out to be.
You will not be preached at. No moral framework gets applied to you here that you did not bring with you. If your faith matters to this, we will work inside it. If it does not, it does not come up.

How the work is done
We find the function first. Nobody does this for no reason. It is usually regulating something: stress, loneliness, boredom, anger, a feeling with no name. Until we know what job it is doing, removing it just leaves the job undone.
Then the mechanics. The hour, the trigger, the sequence of small decisions before the one you notice. Most of this behavior runs on a track, and tracks can be interrupted at points that are not the last one.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is the main approach here and is well suited to this specifically. Urges get treated as weather rather than as instructions. That sounds small and it changes everything about what a bad Tuesday costs you.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, for the thought patterns that make the decision before you know you made it.
- Internal Family Systems, for the part of you that wants to stop and the part that has a job to do.
- EMDR, when something underneath is driving it. We are trained in it.
We do not require abstinence to start. You do not have to have stopped, or want to stop entirely, or have a goal already picked. Come with the situation as it is.
If your partner found out
Two separate pieces of work, and they run at the same time.
Yours is above. Theirs is its own experience, and it is treated in its own right rather than only as a problem in the relationship.
We can hold both, and the couples work happens with a different structure.
What it costs
$205 for a 55-minute session with a licensed clinician. $180 with a supervised associate.
We are in network with Kaiser, PacificSource, Cigna, Aetna, and United Healthcare and Optum, and with Medicare, both Open Card and in-network Advantage plans. Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield is expected from 1 October 2026 and Moda from 15 October 2026, both for associates as well as licensed clinicians. For the Oregon Health Plan we can bill Open Card, but not the coordinated care organizations, and most OHP members are enrolled with a CCO rather than Open Card.
Some people choose to pay privately so that no claim is filed with an insurer. That is a legitimate choice and we will explain exactly how it works without making it a sales conversation.
Who you would see
Our process addiction work is led by a licensed clinician with twenty years in behavioral health, fifteen of them credentialed.
A Marriage and Family Therapist Associate also takes this work, and is often the better fit when a relationship is involved.
Neither of them holds a sex-addiction-specific certification, and we would rather tell you that than let you assume otherwise. It is not a credential this practice is pursuing. What matters clinically is experience with compulsive behavior, which is the thing this practice is actually built around.
Questions people ask
Is pornography addiction real?
Clinicians argue about the label. Nobody argues about the presentation: escalating use, loss of control, continuing despite consequences. We treat what is in front of us rather than the debate.
Am I doing it too much?
Frequency is not the measure. Whether you can stop when you decide to, and what it is costing you, are the measures.
Will you tell my partner?
No. What you say here is confidential, within the narrow limits the law requires of every clinician in this state, and we will tell you exactly what those limits are before you say anything.
Do I have to quit completely?
That is your decision to make and it is a conversation rather than a condition of entry. Plenty of people arrive undecided.
Can this be by video?
Yes, anywhere in Oregon. A significant number of people prefer it for this, and that is a perfectly good reason.
How soon can I be seen?
Usually within days. We are open seven days a week, and inquiries are answered the same day.
